Wow, it’s already been almost a month since I arrived in Paris. Time has flown. Classes are in full swing, which is why I haven’t been posting on here as much. But I’m going to try to aim for a weekly summary from now on 🙂
I’ve been a busy gal! Exploring almost every day, frequenting some favorite spots like Montmartre, Saint Germain des Près, Montparnasse, Rue de Rivoli. It’s nice when I look up somewhere to go like a shop or a restaurant, only to recognize that I’ve been there before – and to be able to know my way around a little. For someone as “directionally challenged” as me (family and friends — you know) that is a really good feeling.
A few weeks ago I went to Notre Dame, but we didn’t get to go all the way to the top yet because tickets were all sold out. I will absolutely go before my time is up, though!
My classes are at the l’Institut Catholique de Paris, and we are in a separate department of the school dedicated to foreign students, to better learn the French language and culture. So unfortunately I don’t have any classes with French students – but I have seen some old friends and made new ones too. The classes aren’t too hard subject-wise, but there is a lot of work to be done. I’m taking 15 credits : 9 hours of Grammar/Language, 3 hours of Cinéma, and 3 hours of Society. As much as I love learning and enjoy going to school, I have to say that it’s hard to get in the student mindset! I still feel like I’m in vacation mode – and I have to remind myself I’m here to study 🙂
