Accentuate the Positive

I couldn’t sleep last night. I tossed and turned and woke fitfully, as visions of travel plans gone awry colored my sleep. My head has been filled these past few days with cautionary tales, warnings, take-heeds, be-carefuls, etc. I absorb them all and try to envision my solo travel going smoothly, without danger and (major) hindrances. But in a day and age where, despite our advancements and ever-present connectivity, there is still so much uncertainty and danger, it’s hard not to let my own imagination get the best of me.
But then I think to myself, ‘How long am I going to spend worrying about things that, fingers-crossed, will never happen? Am I going to focus so much on the potential threats that I miss the advantages of seeing the world?’
The power of positive thought is incredible. Think good things, and good things come to you. Think negatively, and disaster could strike. Call it the law of attraction if you will.
So I’m going to slip all my caution and carefulness into my pocket, close by me at all times. But I’m not going to let negativity be the tour guide. I’m going to put the accent mark on positivity. There are so many things to look forward to, not be afraid of.
